Description
Here is an original 1st edition, 4th printing of the Emerald City of Oz with 12 color plates by John R Neill. Published by Reilly & Britton, the 4th printing of the 1st edition (circa 1918) dropped the metallic ink on the spine and plates. Last printing issued by Reilly & Britton before it went to Reilly & Lee, with Tin Woodman of Oz last title listed on back of ownership page. In Binding B, with Reilly & Britton on the title page but Reilly & Lee on the spine. With beautiful illustrated endpapers with Ozma and Dorothy by Neill.
Book is in good to very good condition, with a little scuffing to cover pastedown and light wear/soiling to cloth exterior. Inside, both hinges appear to have been repaired with glue, so are not perfect but binding is tight. Onwership page has a Nov 1919 inscription. The 12 color plates are in great shape–clean and intact. The pages are in generally good condition, with some age toning and light wear. A hard to find early printing only released for a very short time in 1919!
