Here is a 1st edition, 1st printing of “Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz”, fourth of the Oz books written by L Frank Baum, published in 1908 by Reilly & Britton. This has the ads in the front listing The Land of Oz, Ozma of Oz and John Dough, making it a 1st printing according to the Book Collector’s Guide to L Frank Baum, in Binding B. With 16 incredible color plates by John R Neill (black captions as called for in 1st printing)! Binding A with THE REILLY & BRITTON CO. on spine.
Book is in good to very good condition overall. Gold cover pastedown has some loss at upper right, rear cover has a tiny ding to cloth, and spine looks nice with light wear at ends. Inside, rear hinge is intact and front hinge looks to have been professionally repaired. Some small booksellers notation in pencil. 1908 name and date ownership page. All 16 full-color plates are present and in generally nice condition, with occasional soiling. The title page has a 1″ tear at base near spine, and p. 65 also has about a 1.5″ tear. Moderate finger soiling on some of the pages.
