Description

A first edition of “Speedy in Oz” in the original 1st printing dust jacket, with some condition issues. This is one of the harder 1sts to find, particularly in dust jacket, since it was only printed for a year or so before they dropped the color plates. Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, successor to L. Frank Baum, copyright 1934 by Reilly & Lee. With 12 beautiful color plates by John R. Neill and the as-is original 1st printing dust jacket, variant A, listing titles to Ojo in Oz, the prior Oz book.

This book itself is in fair to good condition. The color pastedown has some browning, and the spine is chipped at torn at the top as shown. Inside, the hinges are tight but there is age toning to the endpapers. All 12 plates are present and in quite nice condition, but the pages opposite have age toning, including on the title page, and there is some spotting to edge of text block. Book Belongs To page is blank.

The dust jacket is in poor condition, with spine completely missing except for some detached remnants as shown, some staining and other chipping, flaps intact. For the budget minded collector who still wants the first editions and color plates.
