The Wishing Horse of Oz, this is a first edition Wizard of Oz book from Reilly & Lee with 12 color plates, in the original dust jacket! Wishing Horse is the 29th Oz book, and the last one to be issued with color plates for just a short while, so hard to find in the 1st edition (only one printing). Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, and illustrated by John R. Neill. 298 pages. The dust jacket is also a first with the last title being Wishing Horse of Oz.

Book condition is very good overall–with a new fine exterior–clean cloth, perfect pastedown, lovely spine. There is some foxing to edges of text block and age toning to the endpapers inside. Hinges are tight. The pages opposite the color plates have variable discoloration as shown, which mostly has not migrated to the color plates themselves, but occasionally faintly so. I’ve taken oodles of photos so you can see what I mean. The other text pages are in very good condition and the Book Belongs To page is blank. The dust jacket is not price clipped and is in very good condition, with some foxing to spine and very slight discoloration. Overall a nice jacketed copy of a hard to find Thompson first.
