Here is a nice first edition copy of one of the scarcer Oz books, “Hidden Valley of Oz”, by author Rachel Cosgrove. With the original dust jacket! Copyright 1951 by Reilly & Lee, this meets all the first edition point of the Book Collector Guide to L Frank Baum with the paste-down cover plate. Cloth binding A. Illustrations in B&W by Dirk (this book was published later and never had color plates). The first edition dust jacket is priced at $2.50. (PSComm)
The book is in near fine condition–Color pastedown looks great; spine and rear cover are clean and straight. Inside, the hinges are tight and the binding is solid. The Book Belongs To page is blank and the endpapers and pages are clean except for an old pencil price on the front endpaper. The jacket is near very good and is not price-clipped, but does have a red mark on the price and there are also check marks and pencil notations on the rear flap. There is also some loss at base of spine and other minor wear. Now protected in an archival cover.
