Description

Here is a first edition of “Pirates in Oz”, in its original first edition dust jacket! Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, successor to L. Frank Baum. Copyright 1931 by Reilly & Lee, this is a first printing with 12 beautiful color plates by John R. Neill, and the dust jacket listing titles to Pirates in Oz. With illustrated endpapers. One of the harder Oz 1sts to find–as the color plates were discontinued shortly after in about 1935.

The book is in very good condition–the front cover pastedown is beautiful and crisp, the exterior cloth is clean (darker than it appears in photo), hinges are tight, and all 12 color plates are present and in nice condition. There is a former owner’s name on the Book Belongs To page and pencil markings by a bookseller on front and rear endpaper. The pages are slightly tanned. The dust jacket is fair only–missing large pieces at top and bottom of spine, flaps detached and torn but present, other wear and tear–please see photos.
