Description
Here is a first edition, first printing of “The Hungry Tiger of Oz”. Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, published by Reilly & Lee in 1926. With color plates by John R. Neill and also illustrated endpapers. Plates coated only on the printed side, as called for for the 1st edition in The Book Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum. This is one of my favorite Oz books.
The book is overall in fair condition only and priced accordingly. The front pastedown has some scuffing, and there is considerable wear to the base of the spine.Inside, the hinges are icracked, with an old repair to the rear, and a good portion of the front free endpaper is missing, with age toning and some writing on what remains. The Book Belongs To page has writing and a stamp as shown. Only 11 color plates are present, with that opposite p. 32 missing, a couple with tears, and one replaced a little messily. For the budget-minded collector who likes the early editions!
