Description
Here is a 1st edition, 1st printing of “The Scarecrow of Oz”, 9th of the Oz books written by L. Frank Baum. Published in 1915 by Reilly & Britton, this is a 1st printing with Scarecrow of Oz the last title listing on the advertisement page in front. While the book is supposed to have 12 captioned color plates by John R. Neill, this copy is missing the frontispiece and 3 others, for 8 total.
Otherwise, the book is in very good condition. Front cover is attractive with light wear, spine is clean but slightly faded and rear cover is clean. Inside, binding and endpapers are in very good shape with a little staining on front endpaper. Book belongs to page is blank and the pages are generally in very good condition, light soiling but no significant marks. One page has about a 2″ closed tear, while one has a corner fold. The 8 color plates are present and in nice condition. A budget Baum Reilly & Britton first!
