Description
Here is a first edition, first printing of “The Hungry Tiger of Oz”. Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, published by Reilly & Lee in 1926. With 12 color plates by John R. Neill and also illustrated endpapers. Plates coated only on the printed side, as called for in The Book Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum. Also with undamaged type on last line of p. 21 and on p. 252, so also one of the earliest copies off the press. This is one of my favorite Oz books.
Book front pastedown is a little dirty but generally good, while the spine has fraying starting at ends as shown. The rear cover is in nice condition (color better than shown in photo). Inside, the front hinge is split with the mull showing, and the rear hinge is solid. Endpapers have age toning and are a little dirty. All 12 plates are present and in good condition with light wear. Book Belongs To page is blank and text pages in very good condition overall. Enjoy this hard to find first!
