Description
Here is a true 1st edition of The Giant Horse of Oz by Ruth Plumly Thompson with 12 color plates, in the original first edition dust jacket! Published by Reilly & Lee, this is the 1928 first printing with the misprint “Oniberon” for “Quiberon” on the frontispiece (referencing The Book Collector’s Guide to Baum). The dust jacket lists to Giant Horse on the flap, as called for in the first jacket. Also with decorated Oz end papers.
Condition of the book is near very good, with a nice pastedown on the cover, clean spine and rear cover, light wear to cloth. Inside, the front hinge is slightly cracked at the top, and both endpapers have age toning, especially at the hinge line. Prior owner’s name in pencil on ownership page. Pages are in generally nice shape with light finger soiling, and all 12 color plates are present and in very good condition. The dust jacket is also near very good, with pencil marks on the flap list of books and some small chips at top and bottom of spine and flaps. Graphics quite clean overall. The first 1st Giant Horse in jacket I’ve been able to offer!
