Description
Here is a beautiful copy of “The Book of Songs”, a Roycrofter poetry book from 1903 by Heinrich Heine. 6″ x 8″, 116 numbered pages. With an unusual suede cover, beautiful moire endpapers, and printed throughout in black and red. With gilt title block and topedge.
The book is in very good condition, particularly for one of these “windshield wiper” books which are often quite worn. Exterior suede is still soft and clean and retains vibrant blue color, with spine slightly darkened. Overhanging yapp edges which are often torn are still nice and complete. The front hinge is intact and the rear one is just starting at the base. Grey silk endpapers are still present, but are starting to detach at the corners. The blue silk bookmark is present but the end has detached. There is something erased at top of front endpaper but otherwise the pages are clean and nice.
