Sold: W. W. Denslow Duffy’s Apple Juice Imp Scarce 1909 Advertising Book

Out of stock

Here is a very unusual Denslow item entitled Duffy’s Apple Juice Imp, a scarce 1909 advertising booklet for the Fruit Product Company in Rochester. With four full color full page illustrations by Denslow as well as the front and back cover illustrations. All signed “DEN” and with his seahorse device. Classic Denslow art with chubby children, a friendly imp shaped like an apple, and a grinning cat. Measures 7 1/4” by 5 3/16″ softcover. This item is so hard to find; it’s the first I’ve had to offer in 16 years of selling Oz-related items!

Book is in fair to good condition–all pages present and attached to original staples, but with staining and discoloration as shown. A couple small tears to top and bottom of cover near spine. There is also a gold seal for “Acker Quality” in upper corner, which seems to be a ca. 1910 Philadelphia shop that sold postcards and other items. Minor rubbing to cover. Worth picking up for the Denslow-phile, as who knows when you’ll find another!
