Here is an interesting Rand McNally title known to have been designed by Oz illustrator W W Denslow–Rosemary and Rue (1896). Included here are two books with different binding versions, a tan one with gilt heart and plant design, and another one in grayish blue cloth with a landscape design and gilt lettering. Written by “Amber”, who was Denslow’s mother-in-law for a while. Both are unsigned, but the book is listed as a cover he did in Greene & Hearn’s book checklist, and the tan one is definitely attributed to Denslow. Denslow designed many of the Rand McNally book covers during the 1986-1898 period, some signed, some not. So, for the Denslow completist collector. Condition is good, with tan good missing front blank endpaper, some darkening to spine, old ribbon bookmark, while the gray book has rubbing to corners and fraying to top of spine, and Christmas label and gift inscription inside.
