Here is a lovely piece of original art by Wizard of Oz illustrator John R Neill. The charcoal drawing features an impressionist beachscape, with a very nice signature in the piece, with a ’39 date. The art board is about 11″x14″ and the frame is 14 3/4×18″. Comes with a letter of authenticity from Hungry Tiger Press, from where I bought it and then had it custom framed using acid-free materials. A midcentury impressionistic style that is a departure from Neill’s more traditional fantasy work, but still very attractive.
As a hidden bonus, flip the art over and there is a score from a Neill family game! John, his daughter Joan and “Joe” played 4 games of, well, something. The mat has a cutout to show the score and is covered with plexiglass for protection. The art is in very good condition, although it does have an old fold mark in the center. This would look especially great in a midcentury modern home or beach house. Please excuse the glare from lights in the photos. Shipping will be $22 flat rate.
