Here is a fabulous book, Denslow’s Night Before Christmas, designed and illustrated by W. W. Denslow of Wizard of Oz fame. Copyright 1902, this is the Donohue version from slightly later–this one with a 1917 inscription. With many incredible and clever full-page color illustrations by Denslow, each signed with the seahorse and “DEN”. Some of the pages actually show famous Baum/Denslow characters as toys in Santa’s bag: the Tin Woodman of Oz and Mother Goose! Very fun, whimsical and classic Denslow style.
In very good condition overall, with a nice clean cover, and light facing to the spine. Inside, the hinges are tight and the pages are complete and in nice condition, except for the front endpaper that has a 1917 gift inscription and a bookseller’s old pencil notes and price. A nice, collectible copy.
