Description
Here is another rare Ruth Plumly Thompson item: An oversized children’s story sheet, featuring “The Tale of Tom Thumb Frog”. Thompson was a prolific writer who did many items other than the Oz books. These early sheets are charming tales originally published in the Philadelphia Public Ledger, and later converted into booklets that are amazingly difficult to find. This original large 11 by 16″ sheet is lavishly printed in full color, and is likely from a 1919 magazine such as the Ladies’ Home Journal, who published others that I have sold. Artwork by Charles J. Coll, who illustrated much of Thompson’s non-Oz work. Both Thompson and Coll are credited.
In good condition, with a few edge tears and light wear. May be shipped rolled.
