Description

For Halloween in 1939, the Einson-Freeman Company issued 5 different paper masks capitalizing on the Wizard of Oz movie. These Par-T-Masks were also handed out by Santa in the toy department of a New York department store. The characters included Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Lion, and the Wizard. Patent #2021593. I’ve recently been fortunate enough to come across a set of these and am listing them separately. Here we have Dorothy herself!

The mask is in good condition, particularly for something so fragile, with a tear across her die-cut nose that is barely holding on. The rest of the graphics are nice though the original rubber band ear holders are broken, and the Einson tags and patent numbers are still present. Small lipstick? mark on the back. A wonderful early Oz collectible!
