Description
Here is a promotional booklet and a mini-program for a 1947 production of The Red Mill, which has at least three interesting connections to the early Wizard of Oz stageplay. First, the program has a page featuring Fred Stone, who was the Scarecrow in the original Oz production. This production stars his daughter, Dorothy Stone and is co-produced by his daughter Paula. Second, the earlier Broadway production of The Red Mill featured Stone and David Montgomery as the Tin Woodman. Victor Herbert wrote the original operetta and is also featured on one of the pages. Finally (?), the lyrics were written by Henry Blossom, and his grandson (I think) Henry S Blossom wrote The Blue Emperor of Oz. How the worm turns!
The booklet is in very good condition, with a little creasing to spine. Two ticked stubs are stapled in.
