Here is one of the most desirable of L. Frank Baum’s non-Oz books, The Sea Fairies. This is a circa 1920 printing according to the Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum. Published by Reilly & Lee and with a new cover illustration, but still retaining the 12 color plates of the 1st edition (but without the green iridescent ink). Personally I think this Neill cover with a mermaid looking into a mirror is much prettier than the cover of the earlier printings. List of Oz books in the front ends with Glinda of Oz (1920).
This collectible book is in good plus condition. The front cover pastedown has light wear as shown; spine are rear cover are very nice. Inside, the front hinge is lightly cracked about 1/2 way up; the rear hinge is intact with just a little tearing starting to the nearby paper. There is a former bookseller’s pencil notations and name/address of former owner on rear endpaper. Front endpaper has a neatly glue-repaired tear. The Book Belongs To page has more ownership markings. The other pages are in very good condition without writing or tears noted. The 12 color plates are all present and in overall very good condition.
