Here is a hard to find L Frank Baum title: Tamawaca Folks: A Summer Comedy. This was written by Baum under the John Estes Cooke pseudonym. Originally published by The Tamawaca Press, copyright 1907, this is the 1985 third printing–must have been a very small print run, as this is only the second of the softcover version that I’ve seen in 17 years of dealing in Oziana. Also by “Tamawaca Press”; they published a hardcover 2nd printing 1978. No copies of this book or the 2nd printing available online at the time of listing. If your budget isn’t $1500 plus for the 1907 1st edition :-), try this later printing, with the same cover design.
“Tamawaca” is a thinly veiled rearrangement of “Macatawa” Park, where the Baum family had a summer cottage. This book is a good-natured satire of events observed there.
The book is in fair condition only, as when I got it, the perfect bound book had split into 3 sections. I tried to repair it with archival glue, but it was only partially successful, with the top section still quite loose–it may not hold up to reading. The pages are clean and completely unmarked, with light age toning. More toning to rear cover. A little gem for the serious Baum collector, offered at a discount due to condition!
