Sold: Enchanted Island of Yew Book L Frank Baum Oz 8 Color Plates 1913 Donohue

Out of stock

Here is one of Baum’s non-Oz books that isn’t seen very often. This printing is copyright 1903 and is similar to the Bobbs-Merrill first edition, but has Donohue on the title page so is circa 1913 according to the Book Collector’s Guide to L Frank Baum. With a nice Art Nouveau cover and eight wonderful color plates by Fanny Y. Cory; blank endpapers.

This copy is in fair to good condition, with wear to color printing on cover, edges of spine and corner cloth. Inside, there is heavy foxing on front and rear endpapers. Also signed by former owner, Margaret Loomis, possibly the same one who was a silent film actress in the 1920s. Both hinges are cracked, with the rear one appearing to have an old glue repair. The pages have some finger soiling. All eight color plates are present and in quite nice condition.
