Here is a rare find: one of the Aunt Jane’s Nieces series with intact dust jacket! Collectors have been snapping these up. Aunt Jane’s Nieces in Society; fifth of the series for girls written by L. Frank Baum (Wizard of Oz author) under the Edith Van Dyne pseudonym. Copyright 1910, Reilly & Britton. Front endpaper and jacket flap list seven titles in this series to “On Vacation”, so this book published circa 1912 (1st edition, 3rd printing acording to the Book Collectors Guide to Baum). Oval color illustration on cover, B&W frontispiece.
The book itself is in near fine condition, with a beautiful clean cover and spine. Inside, hinges are tight and pages are very clean. The jacket is good only, with significant age toning, spine very darkened, and some loss at top. Flaps are intact and nice with some wear along fold line. Font flap has the story synopsis; the rear flap advertises the Flying Girl series.
