Description
Here is one of the most desirable of L. Frank Baum’s non-Oz books, The Sea Fairies. This printing published by Reilly & Lee has a beautiful cover and full color frontispiece by John R. Neill (personally I think it’s much prettier than the cover of the earlier printings). According to the Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum, this printing (with the boldface Reilly & Lee on the spine) is from ca. 1927 to the mid 1930s.
Book is in good condition only, because there is some heavy wear tot he bottom side of spine, including the cloth worn to the boards in a couple small spots. The spine cocked and there is a small ~3/16″ tear at base of spine. Now the good news: The front cover pastedown is beautiful and clean, especially against the deep red cloth. Inside, the hinges are intace and tight, though there is browning to both free endpapers as shown. The Book Belongs To page in blank, and a few pages have soiling but most are quite clean. Frontispiece is in very good condition. A decent overall.
