Description
L. Frank Baum (of Wizard of Oz fame) also wrote other children’s books under the Edith Van Dyne pseudonym. Here is an early one, The Flying Girl, published by Reilly & Britton, 1911. First edition, first issue with four black and white plates by Joseph Pierre Nuyttens and white lettering on cover and spine (per Book Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum).
Condition is fair only, for the budget-inded collector. Front cover and spine have wear and discoloration as shown, and the bottom of the text block shows probable insect damage. Inside, the rear hinge is badly cracked, amd there is a messy inscription on free endpaper. All that said, the rest of the book is pretty good! The four illustrated plates are present and in good condition as are most of the pages, with light wear and soiling. One of my wild and homeless books, at a good price.
