Description
Here is “Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz”, fourth of the Oz books written by L Frank Baum. Copyright 1908 by Reilly & Lee, this is a ca. 1938 edition without the color plates, but with the color pastedown on the cover. This book was distributed by Sears, Roebuck and Co and has an unusual cover design, in a slightly smaller format than the other Reilly & Lee books. It also contains the hard-to-find original dust jacket, with a matching design but in a different border color (blue instead of red.)
Condition of the exterior book cover and cloth are excellent, with a really beautiful pastedown and cloth almost like new. Inside, there is brownish discoloration to the pages as usual, as this particular book was issued on highly acidic paper. The front blank endpaper has a couple closed tears at the base, but otherwise the pages are in excellent condition with the Book Belongs To page still blank. The binding is tight though the rear hinge is cracked.
The dust jacket is fair to good, mostly there but with substantial edge tears and folds, and a small amount of loss at base of rear cover.
