Here is one of the most desirable of L. Frank Baum’s non-Oz books, The Sea Fairies, with the original dust jacket! Copyright 1911, this book published in the mid 1930’s, with a beautiful cover and full color frontispiece by John R. Neill (personally I think this cover design is much prettier than the cover of the earlier printings). According to the Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum, this printing with the semi-script Reilly & Lee on the spine, yet retaining the color frontispiece, is from ca. 1934. I’ve actually never seen this book with the jacket before.
Book is in good only condition, mostly due to the heaving staining and foxing of the front endpapers, as well as behind the frontis and on some of the pages. The exterior is quite nice though, with a beautiful front cover pastedown and nice spine and rear cover. The inner hinges are good, though there is a 1″ tear at base of front endpaper and some bookseller’s notations as well. The Book Belongs To page is blank. The jacket is actually in nicer condition, and could be used to upgrade another copy of the book. Flaps intact, darkening and some loss to spine and flap folds, not price clipped.
