Description

Here is a nice 1st edition copy of The Purple Prince of Oz, by Ruth Plumly Thompson. Published in 1932 by Reilly & Lee, this is the first printing with 12 color plates by John R. Neill. Also with illustrated endpapers, in Binding A. One of the harder Oz 1sts to find–as the color plates were discontinued in about 1935. With a later dust jacket listing titles to Scalawagons of Oz.

Condition of this book is very good overall. The front cover pastedown has light wear, and the spine and rear cover are clean and bright. Inside, front hinge is intact and rear hinge is partly cracked. The ownership page is blank, and all 12 color plates are present and in nice condition, though about 7 black and white illustrations have been hand-colored. The pages are in nice shape with light toning an staining. See photos. The jacket is very good with light wear. Overall a nice Thompson first.
