Description
Here is an early edition of “The Scarecrow of Oz”, 9th of the Oz books written by L. Frank Baum. Copyright 1915, this is not a Reilly & Britton first edition, but the first Reilly & Lee printing, dating to about 1919 (publisher’s advertisements list to the 1918 book, The Tin Woodman of Oz.) With 12 color plates by John R. Neill, and black and white decorated endpapers.
Book is in good but not very good condition, with a few flaws. The color pastedown has some edge wear, and the top spine joint has a little splitting starting as shown. Spine ends have light wear and the rear cover looks great. Inside, rear hinge is partly split through as shown, but it will hold if you are gentle, while the front hinge is intact. Book belongs to page is filled in. The 12 color plates are present and in nice condition, as are the pages.
