Description

Here is a first edition copy of “Ojo in Oz”, one of the harder to find and thus more desirable vintage Oz titles. Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, successor to L. Frank Baum. Copyright 1933 by Reilly & Lee, this is a 1st edition, first printing with beautiful color plates by John R. Neill. This book was only issued for about two years with the plates, because In 1935 Reilly & Lee stopped including the color plates to cut costs. This book is in the “B” binding, (according to the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum), with the semi-script publisher’s imprint.

The book is only in fair condition and is priced accordingly, for the budget-minded collector. The book exterior has scuffing to the color pastedown, a little staining to the back cloth, and the spine is discolored. There is apparently some re-inking to the lettering, particularly the OZ where there is also some damage to the cloth. The corners are worn. Inside, the front endpaper has been reglued, with some damage on the back and “First Edition” penciled on the front. The rear hinge has also been inexpertly reglued with heavy age toning. The Book Belongs Page To has a name and inscription in pencil. The book is missing one of the 12 color plates, tho the others are in nice condition. The pages are generally good with some age toning throughout.
