Description
The Visitors from Oz was published in 1960 and is based on the Queer Visitors From The Marvelous Land of Oz, a 1904 comic page. The book was illustrated throughout in color and B&W by the wonderful Dick Martin. A set of 4 prints from the book were issued as part of the publicity for the book, apparently in very limited distribution in the Chicago area. Here are two of the four that managed to survive. The scarce prints are 9 1/2″ by 12 1/4″ and are slightly larger than the pages of the book, in which the artwork was trimmed at the edges. These images really show Martin’s exuberant style and love of bright colors. Two of my last set of prints are also shown next to the pages in the actual book (not included).
Prints have some edge and corner wear, and one is quite dirty on the back.
