Description
Here is a rare 1909 first edition copy of The Road to Oz with the light green stamped cover, by L Frank Baum. This is also the 1st printing of the 1st edition, with different colors of page stock. In the A binding, with Reilly & Britton in upper & lower case letters on the spine (ref: The Book Collector’s Guide to L Frank Baum). Inside the endpapers are lavishly illustrated in red and black. Black and white illustrations throughout by John R. Neill (the Road to Oz never had color illustrations, just the different colored pagestock).
Book is very good condition overall. The exterior binding has some reddish staining near left gutter and light soiling, but is overall still quite atttractive and colors still vibrant. Inside, the endpapers are nice with front hinge mostly cracked and rear hinge partially cracked, but the binding is still secure. Booksellers notations on top of Book Belongs To page rear endpaper in pencil. Other pages are clean with light wear and page colors are still strong. Overall a quite attractive copy of a hard to find Reilly & Britton 1st/1st.
