Description
A fun children’s book illustrated by Wizard of Oz artist Dick Martin, in the original dust jacket! This one written by Marion Beckler and published in 1964 in the style of the Oz books of the 1960s by Reilly & Lee. Hardcover with many B&W illustrations inside and two-color illustrated endpapers. The original dust jacket mimics the colorful front and back cover illustration, which is some of Martin’s finest work– nicer than his Merry Go Round in Oz cover, I think. Basically an adventure story, but there are Ozzy touches like Pamela wishing for silver slippers, a horse named Tornado and an amulet that grants wishes. Rear flap includes a bio of Martin and also book’s author.
A hard to find title, particularly in this excellent condition (often ex-library but this copy is not). The book is near fine, with just a bookseller’s pencil notation on endpaper, clean and tight, excellent cover. The jacket is excellent also, complete and clean, and not price clipped.
