Here are two original Oz books with color plates in fair condition only, so I’ve bundled them together. Gnome King of Oz by Ruth Plumly Thompson is a first edition with 12 color plates, while Tik-tok by L Frank Baum is a ca. 1920s-1935 edition with blank endpapers and captioned color plates. Both published by Reilly & Lee Co.
Condition: Gnome King has all 12 color plates but has staining to cover, wear to spine cloth, cracked front hinge, coloring/writing to rear endpapers and a few text pages, torn top corners, staining to some page edges, etc. Please see the many photos. The plates are all in nice condition. Tik-Tok has 12 color plates, one with a tear, wear to exterior plate, pencil writing to front endpaper, binding splitting at half-title page (but holding), heavy finger soiling to pages, and other misc flaws. See photos. For the budget-minded collector who wants the color plate illustrations, but is not so picky about condition.
