Description
Here is a scarce original program for a production of the Pearl and the Pumpkin musical at teh Illinoise Theatre in Chicago for the two weeks starting Feb 18th, 1906. The musical was based on the book by Wizard of Oz illustrator W. W. Denslow and Paul West. The program measures 5 1/4″ x 7 1/2″ and 56 pages, with 7 pages including information on the musical. Denslow is credited as co-author of the book and for “Designs for scenery, properties and costumes”. A plethora of information on this unusual production, including the cast, songs, synopsis of scenery, “Argument” (a detailed plot synopsis), and Executive staff for Klaw and Erlanger, the production company. Great vintage ads as well. This is the first program I’ve been able to offer for this production over a period of many years, and I specialize in Denslow. In good condition with chip at lower corner, detached but included if you want to repair, moderate edge wear, stapled binding still intact. A rare survivor!
