Here is a very nice 1st edition copy of The Wonder City of Oz, copyright 1940 by John R. Neill, famous Oz illustrator who continued writing the series for a while. This is the first Reilly & Lee edition, with a full color pastedown illustration on the cloth front cover and the first edition points of 16-page gatherings, and the correct position of the illustration on p. 292-293 (from Book Collector’s Guide to LF Baum). As issued, with black and white illustrations by John R. Neill, black and white illustrated endpapers. In a beautiful turquoisy-green cloth.
Condition is very good ++. The color pastedown is still bright with light scuffing, and the stunning cloth is in excellent condition. Spine and rear cover look great. Inside, the hinges are intact and the endpapers are clean with just light transfer of the original ink. The Book Belongs To page has a neat name. Pages are in wonderful shape, no marks, tears or odor! A very nice 1st overall in lovely shape.
