Here is an unusual copy of “The Land of Oz”, copyright 1932 by L. Frank Baum, with its original dust jacket. Reilly & Lee seemed to be going thru a bit of an identity crisis with this title, which was issued in many different cover designs. This cover type was only published between the 1940s and 1959. After that the covers were blank with colorful dust jackets, and then finally the color covers were brought back with the white cover editions. This cover features a yellow (or perhaps golden) Emerald City. Go figure. Or possibly it is the Tin Woodman’s shiny tin palace. At any rate, it’s an unusual cover design! Black and white illustrations by John R Neill throughout.
Book is in good to very good overall condition, with a beautiful front cover label, a little spotting to edge of spine and rear cover with a small stain at base. Inside, the hinges are intact, but the endpapers have a little staining and some erasure marks on the front free endpaper. Text pages are very good throughout. The dust jacket is near very tood, not price clipped but with a little chipping to spine ends and top of rear flap.
