Description
Here is a scarce edition of “The Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum. Published by Reilly & Lee, this 1961 abridged edition was completely re-illustrated by Dick Martin. Adapted by Jean Kellogg. Oversized, 9″x12″, no dust jacket (as issued). In color laminated pictorial boards with many vivid full-page color illustrations. Very cute rear cover with the Scarecrow reading a 1st edition Denslow-illustrated Wizard of Oz. I’m not sure why this book is so iconic, but it’s very hard to find, often very worn if found, and I’ve seen good copies go for over $700 at auction.
This copy is in beautiful, very good to near fine condition. Bright, clean exterior with very light scratches, light bumping to spine ends. Inside, slight weakending to stitched hinges but still tight, and pages in fine condition with no marks, tears, or writing. A very nice collectible copy of this rare book.
