Description
Here is a 1st edition, 1st printing of The Scarecrow of Oz by L. Frank Baum, with 12 color plates by John R Neill, in Binding A. Published by Reilly & Britton in 1915 (publisher’s advertisement lists to The Scarecrow of Oz as called for in the 1st printing). Illustrated endpapers. Copyright 1915.
This book is in about very good condition. The cover plate is complete and clean, the corner cloth is worn, there is a small spot on rear cover and there is rubbing along the joints as shown. Inside, the rear hinge has been glue repaired (see photo) and the front hinge is intact except for a small crack about 2/3″ at top. Beverly Hills bookseller’s seal at base of endpaper. The pages are clean and the Book Belongs To pages is blank. The 12 color plates are all present and in very good or better condition except one that has been replaced and is dirty around the edges. There are 2 leaves near the back with 2″ closed tears. Overall a nice copy of this hard to find Baum first.
