Description
Here is a first edition, first printing of Rinkitink in Oz, published in 1916. What makes this copy especially great is that it is a Canadian Copp Clark edition! Copp Clark was the Canadian manufacturer who also published the Oz 1sts at the same time as Reilly & Britton, and all Copp Clarks firsts are more rare than their corresponding American firsts. With 12 color plates w/o captions, and pictorial endpapers.
Condition is fair to good only. The cover pastedown has some scuffing with a little loss at upper right. The spine and rear cover have some blue ink markings that extend a little to top of text block as well. The spine has wear at both ends. Inside, the front endpaper is intact and the rear is starting to split a little. There is some wear to the edge of the dedication page, and a tear on the half-title page that has been neatly glue repaired (6th photo). The 12 color plates are all present and in very good condition except the one opposite p 176 is partly loose.
