Here is an unusual copy of The Purple Prince of Oz book with a dust jacket illustrated by Dick Martin. In 1960, only ten of the Oz books were issued in special dust jackets by Martin, and these were only in production for a few years before being replaced by the “white cover” editions without dust jackets, which are much more common. These jacket covers are described in Appendix 2 of Bibliographia Oziana (1988). Purple Prince was written by Ruth Plumly Thompson and published by Reilly & Lee. This is one of the harder to find Martin covers!
The book itself is very good plus–exterior cloth is very clean, no marks, inside the hinges have a few spots with the mull exposed but the binding is still tight. Book Belongs To page is blank and pages are clean. The jacket is good, with a little wear to spine ends and some discoloration on rear cover and flap folds. Not price-clipped but with old price sticker on flap and some check marks on rear flap book list. Still presents well.
