Here is a nice early copy of The Purple Prince of Oz book! Copyright 1932 by Ruth Plumly Thompson, this is a post-1935 edition with black and white illustrations by John R. Neill. This is an unusual variant from the 1940’s, with the illustrated endpapers bound in following the blank free endpaper. See p. 142-143 of the Book Collector’s Guide to L Frank Baum. One of Thompson’s scarcer titles.
This is a nice copy overall. The front cover is perfect–the color pastedown is still glossy. The spine has a tiny closed tear near the middle, about 1/4″ long. Not very noticeable. Spine ends and corners are very good with no fraying. Rear cover just light soiling. The blank endpapers are clean and unbroken but have a small name in the corner, and there is a crack in the binding where the illustrated endpapers meet. The binding is holding. The pages are in excellent condition, and the Book Belongs To page is blank.
