Here is a 1st edition copy of The Purple Prince of Oz, by Ruth Plumly Thompson! Published in 1932 by Reilly & Lee, this is the first printing with 12 color plates by John R. Neill. Also includes a later dust jacket listing titles to Mimics in Oz, dating the jacket to about 1946. With illustrated endpapers. One of the harder Oz 1sts to find–as the color plates were discontinued shortly after in about 1935.
Book is good only–the front cover pastedown has some loss at the top, and there is some staining to the top of the spine and rear cover. Much lighter staining inside at the top of fixed endpapers, and no discernable staining to the pages. All 12 color plates are present and beautiful (one starting to separate and one with very small closed tear). The binding is solid and hinges are tight. The owner has neatly watercolored many of the black and white illustrations–see photos. 1935 inscription on Book Belongs To page. The dust jacket is fair–not price-clipped, but with a large chunk out of the spine area. Sold with faults at a discount price.
