Here is a nice first edition book called “Pirates in Oz”, one of the harder to find and thus more desirable vintage Oz titles. Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, successor to L. Frank Baum. Copyright 1931 by Reilly & Lee, this is a first printing with 12 beautiful color plates by John R. Neill. In the “A” binding with Reilly & Lee in bold face on the spine.
Book is in good condition, the main flaw being that both hinges are badly cracked (but still attached), so the book is sloppy with the webbing showing. Cover pastedown has some rubbing from the linen-like cloth which has ribs. Spine has light fraying at ends, rear cover is clean. Book has slight rounding to boards. Endpapers are clean, Book Belongs to Page has a neat name. The 12 color plates are all present and in excellent condition. The text pages are clean. A hard-to-find Thompson first!
