Here is a scarce early copy of Nel Regno di Oz (Baum’s “The Realm of Oz”, or Wizard of Oz) in Italian. Published in Rome by Societa Apostolato Stampa (S.A.S), undated but ca 1940s/50s, fourth edition. 255 numbered pages. Illustrated by Miki Ferro Pelizzari, translated into Italian by Maria Luisa Agosti Castellani. This is one of a set of 5 Oz books by this publisher, one of the earliest Italian Wizards and certainly the finest. I believe the Wizard is the only one in the series with later editions, with the main change seeming to be a more sturday cloth instead of paper spine.
With a beautiful full color cover, and illustrated endpapers. Also with many amazing text illustrations–there are eight full page, full color illustrations and many other single color illustrations throughout.
Condition is near very good, particularly for these books with fragile, paper-covered boards. The front cover is gorgeous save for a fold to the bottom corner, with some splitting to cover paper and edge wear. The rear cover has light wear and corner bumping. Inside, the front hinge has a little splitting in the middle, the rear hinge is solid, and the rest of the pages are in very nice condition overall with no writing or tears noted. Quite nice overall! Now in a protective archival cover.
