In 1916 Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum started a new “Bluebird” book series under the pseudonym Edith Van Dyne. “Van Dyne” was already popular as author of the Aunt Jane’s Nieces series books. Baum wrote several books in this new series before he died, starting with “Mary Louise” (the name of his favorite sister). Mary Louise Solves a Mystery is the third book in the series, copyright 1917 by Reilly & Britton. This is a later printing from the 20’s by Reilly & Lee.
Book is in good condition with some wear.Rear cover and spine with some discoloration, inside with old pencil price, bookseller’s stamp on rear endpaper and rear hinge cracked with webbing showing. Frontis probably was reglued, as it doesn’t open completely flat, rear endpaper somewhat loose. Text pages are nice and clean, with no tears or marks noted. A decent copy of an unusual Van Dyne title!
