Description
Here is a first edition, first printing of The Lost Princess of Oz book, published in 1917. As specified in the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, the publisher’s advertisement on the back of the ownership page lists Lost Princess as the last title and there are 12 color plates w/o captions. This book also has the correct 1st printing light blue cloth and double horizontal rules at the top and bottom of the spine, which reads “Reilly & Britton”. With pictorial endpapers.
Condition only fair–with substantial rubbing to cover plate, fraying beginning at spine ends, and rear cover somewhat dirty. Inside, the front hinge is very badly cracked as shown, but holding, so the front cover is quite floppy. Rear hinge is also cracked but not as badly. “No 10” written on front endpaper. The pages are in generally good condition and the 12 color plates are all present and very good, save for the last one which is loose and a little ragged at the edges. So, a true Baum first edition offered at a discount due to condition.
