Description
Here is a 1st edition, 2nd printing of “Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz”, fourth of the Oz books written by L Frank Baum. First published in 1908 by Reilly & Britton, this ca. 1911 printing has ads in the front listing 6 titles (reference: The Book Collector’s Guide to L Frank Baum). This is one of my “Wild and Homeless” books, with condition issues as described below. With incredible color plates by John R Neill.
Book cover has scratches and edge wear. Spine actually looks pretty good except for fraying starting at base. Inside, there are only 15 of the original 16 color plates, with the frontis missing, 2 plates are laid in loose with edge wear, oone partially loose, ne taped in, one with some tape residue. Illustrated endpapers have some spotting and wear, rear hinge is glue repaired, ownership page has a pencil name, and pages are a little grimy with toning and some stains. Binding somewhat loose in spots, but holding. A venerable old copy, priced at a steep discount for the non-judgemental collector!
