Description
Here is The Emerald City of Oz, sixth of the Oz books written by L. Frank Baum, copyright 1910. This is an early Reilly & Lee edition with 12 color plates by John R. Neill in addition to many black and white illustrations. Also contains beautiful illustrated endpapers with Ozma and Dorothy. According to The Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, this printing is circa 1929, when the new cover design was released. According to that source this cover version was only printed through 1931-1933 with 12 color plates, so it’s a quite unusual printing of Emerald City.
The book is in near very good condition. The pastedown label is beautiful, the spine has toning/a little staining and a tiny tear at top. There is a small stain at bottom of the text block. Inside, both hinges are tight and intact and the endpapers have light toning. The 12 beautiful color plates are well attached and in very good condition! Near the back, there are three pages with about 1″ margin tears.
