Description
Here is an original 1910 1st edition, 1st printing of the Emerald City of Oz with 16 color plates by John R Neill. Published by Reilly & Britton. Illustrated endpapers with Ozma; the color plates embellished with metallic ink. One of the most desirable Wizard of Oz books by L Frank Baum.
The book exterior is in only fair to good condition, while the interior is in good to very good condition. Small scratches on cover pastedown although it’s still attractive. Substantial wear to spine with some fraying loss at ends and obscuration of “Britton” at base. Rear cover dirty with round mark and faint name at top–“Raymond Edward Fenner Jr”. Corners soft and splitting, some cloth loss along edges. Inside is better–all 16 color plates are present and in very good overall condition overall. Frontis and title page have a stain; front hinge has been neatly glue repaired, some pages have moderate staining. The Book Belongs To page has a name applied over an older name, a couple pages look to have been trimmed along fore-edge. So, an acceptable copy of a hard to find Baum 1st, at a decent price.
