Description
Here’s 3 beautiful facsimile reproductions of the early Wizard of Oz books, the first ones published by Books of Wonder in New York. All three written by L Frank Baum.
Includes:
1) The Wonderful Wizard of Oz–complete with all 24 color plates and internal color illustrations by W W Denslow! Denslow’s design innovative illustrations were partly responsible for the huge success of the book. It’s hard to appreciate his artistry if you haven’t seen this book in near-original form. Published by Books of Wonder/William Morrow in 1987 (originally published by Geo. M. Hill), this is a beautiful 1st printing thus in dust jacket. A nice alternative if you can’t afford the 4-figure true first edition.
2) The Marvelous Land of Oz, published by Books of Wonder/William Morrow in 1985, with 16 color plates by John R Neill, 1st printing thus with full number line on copyright page. (Originally published by Reilly & Britton Co.)
3) The Road to Oz, published by Books of Wonder/William Morrow in 1985, never issued with color plates but with colored pages as in the original book, 1st printing thus (full number line). (Originally published by Reilly & Britton Co.)
All three books are in fine condition, no writing or tears, tight bindings, original dust jackets issued with these facsimiles. There is some photo glare from the archival covers on the dust jackets, but they are also in great condition.
